THE LADY OF SHALOTT
The following essay is going to be about the Story The Lady Of Shalott and the personal view of the author on how is this text related to values, specifically patience and caring.
The poem narrates the life of this Lady (that has no name in the story) that lives in Shalott Island. Even to the natives, this woman was a mystery, no one has ever seen her.
This woman is sentenced to live in a very tall and gloomy tower for the rest of her life. She is not allowed to go out because there is a spell within her body structure that does not allow her as I mentioned to go out and also just to simply look out of the only window she had.
The settings of the story imply that she lives in a island and her tower is in front of a beautiful and very green town called Camelot.
Now described the situation, in my point of view , the poem has everything to do with patience, she actually did have a lot of patience because she was just spending, not living her life "caged" in a place just weaving in order to just do not die of boredom.
All day and all night according to the story.
One day she could see what was in front of her tower, the Camelot, but not directly , she could because some sudden movement in the mirror , she could see the reflection of the beautiful outdoors that surrounded her sad place where she was living.
She was motivated by the limited landscape that was reflected in the mirror. She had no more patience and decided to take the risk of going out even when she knew her life was in danger the moment she stepped out.
Also is important to mention that she fell in love with a warrior, she felt this strong feeling even though she could have not have any real physical contact with him, just by seeing him she developed this emotion. This clearly shows that this main character is very caring.
Furthermore, I can add that she felt this passionate feeling about the things that were out there, because she did not know for a long anything about what was there, so when she was out she loved passionately the Camelot.
[To begging with the resolution of the story/poem of the Lady of Shalott that is vital to say that was written by Tenny nson and divided in four parts, is that when she is down in the Camelot , she finally meets Sir Lancelot the warrior , he states that "she has a very angelical face of hers" , then she ran away , and at some point she dies because of the unknowledge of the presence of the knights.
To reinforce she is very caring because of the affection she developed for her surrounding town and the warrior.
And very patient due to having to just stay in a tower all alone by herself.
